A deadly pre winter snowstorm devastates the Southwest and nears the East as the Weather Bureau calls it a major storm. In Los Angeles, radio host John Gilbert plans a New Year’s countdown drink program on KGIL titled One For The Road with periodic sobriety tests by police to determine intoxication levels.
The military government in Greece announces it is ready to accept King Constantine back to the throne. Deputy Premier Stylianos Pattakos says Constantine can return of his own free will and that the throne belongs to him. He has not abdicated or been persecuted.
Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson says she has heard nothing from her daughter Lynda Bird and new son-in-law Marine Capt. Charles S. Robb since their honeymoon at Caneel Bay in the Virgin Islands. She adds she will not call them until they call her.
New Delhi UPI reports Scott Cohen,Sen. Charles Percy foreign policy aide, rejected Rep. Wayne Hays charge that a mortar attack on Percy in Vietnam was staged for publicity. Cohen directed readers to Col. Williams at Song Be and Gen. Westmoreland for details.
Senator Stephen Young of Ohio called in the Senate for the recall of the U S ambassador to Greece and withdrawal of recognition of the ruling military regime. He urged an immediate halt to all military and economic aid to the regime.
London sources say Prime Minister Harold Wilson and Foreign Secretary George Brown are near a breaking point after a cabinet vote to keep a ban on arms shipments to South Africa. No resignations expected, but Friday’s meeting was the longest wrangle since Labor took office in 1964.

An armed robber, described as five seven wearing glasses, entered Harvey's Market at 517 Fink St at 1:55 p.m. Friday. He pointed a small black pistol with a white handle and demanded cash, taking $210 from a register and a woman's purse into a green cloth bag.
