Preacher Glynn Wolfe Plans 17th Wedding in Las Vegas Shadow

Glynn Wolfe a 50 year old preacher will marry 18 year old De Merle Rankin in a private home after a Las Vegas wedding last Aug 17. The couple who plan a Disney land honeymoon say they will marry Saturday and seek a license the same day. Wolfe has 15 prior marriages including Sherry Goodwin Wolfe twice and says his wives have been teenagers.

Norwalk Board Approves Hiring 10 New School Specialists

Norwalk schools plan to add ten specialists including speech and hearing therapists guidance counselors psychologists and teachers to the faculty. Dr Sturgis R Corbin superintendent received blanket approval from the Board of Education Tuesday night to hire as soon as possible and begin screening January graduates despite a shortage of qualified candidates.

School board plans for summer school and new staff

The Norwalk board proposes to fund a year of summer courses to certify ten teachers as special education specialists. State funds would cover 4,400 to 4,850 dollars of salaries for several special education staff, while some positions receive only extended service funds. If employed, librarians and others may follow with targeted hires. A library at Maplehurst and a high school tracking program are discussed, with counselor ratios targeted at 1 to 400 and 11,000 overall. The millage increase hinges on actual hiring. A kitchen equipment purchase of 3,834 dollars from Skelton’s starts the new school year.

Pageant Protested at Norwalk Elementary Schools

The Norwalk Board of Education will review the annual Christmas pageants at its January meeting. Elementary Supervisor Mozelle Adams is to attend. Parents question rehearsal time and uniform pageants across five schools. Dr. Sturgis R. Corbin cites educational value but questions the method.

Removal Approved to Clear 90 Trees in Norwalk

Norwalk City Council adopts a 7000 appropriation to remove about 90 trees and stumps as the final phase of the five year half mill levy program. Two firms, Smith Hi-Ranger Tree Service and the Davey Tree Service, will perform the work and bids will be sought for a remittance control machine for the auditor.

McNamara touts US nuclear strength for Europe

Secretary McNamara told NATO ministers in Paris that the United States maintains a vast arsenal for Europe including more than 800 intercontinental ballistic missiles and over 300 Polaris missiles. He said about 40 percent of US nuclear forces are in Europe or the Atlantic area and urged no major surge in strategic spending.

Duke Ok HOUSTON Surgeries Remove Aorta Section

Surgeons led by Dr. Michael DeBakey removed a four inch segment of the Duke of Windsor's abdominal aorta and replaced it with a dacron patch in a 67 minute operation. The 70 year old duke tolerated the procedure well and is in a three hour postoperative recovery.
