Three week old Karen Cantrell survived the Siamese twin separation at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children while her twin Susan died an hour after surgery conducted by six surgeons. The operation concluded with Karen reported in satisfactory condition.

James Westerhold announces committees formed to promote the Norwalk visit of the Harlem Globe Trotters. Ike Liedorff will handle gym arrangements assisted by Louis Nardecchia. Jim Stewart assists with publicity. The Globe Trotters appear in Norwalk Wednesday December 28 at 8 p.m. following a Cleveland Arena show Tuesday evening. All Globe Trotters on television recently will be in Norwalk.

Zone Petition Moves Forward in Norwalk Township

Norwalk Township Trustees accepted a Monday night petition to zone unincorporated areas and formed a fire man board to draft a zoning code. George W. Filip Arthur F. Kluding Mildred M. Swabley Rudy E. Smith Bernard Cring named to the committee. The zoning board will meet January 9 to begin drafting with two public hearings and a residents vote after.

Auto-Truck Crash Injures City Man

Hugh D. Harkness, 46, of Willard Avenue, was admitted to Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital after a car truck collision at West Main and Benedict Street. Jimmy Dale Miller, 29, Akron, driving the semi trailer, was cited for failure to stop within a safe distance. The crash occurred at 9 34 a m and caused heavy damage to Harkness car while the truck sustained minor damage.

Sheriff Car In Accident On Way To Truck Fire

A sheriff’s patrol car collided with a Volkswagen at Peru Center Road and Townline Road 12 while the deputy responded to a hay truck fire two miles west of Willard. Wendell R. Jones sustained rib injuries. no damage to the sheriff’s car was reported. The hay truck owned by Heisler Elevator of Centerton burned, with $5,000 in truck damage and $275 in loss. Fire Chief attributed the blaze to spontaneous combustion.

A Willard Board of Education meeting discussed adopting new math methods. Superintendent M E Acocks said old style books can no longer be bought and implied the new math is here to stay. A spectator quipped the change might lift homework burdens.

Twenty three Norwalk High School football letter winners were honored at the banquet Monday night. Senior victors include Norman Blymyer William Grose Dennis Jones Randy Miller Daryle Meyer Timothy Smith Dennis Stower co captains Kevin Conry and Dennis Marion. Kevin Conry MVP earned a trophy. Sophomore Greg Levers won Most Improved Underclassman. Speakers urged winning and teamwork with praise for the squad and support from parents.

The bigamy trial of James L. Tuttle Sr., 32, Willard, opened in Huron County Common Pleas Court with a waiver of jury. Judge Robert J. Vetter presided. Defense was by Henry E. Young and the state by Frederick F. Waugh.
