Health Board Moves Toward New Fees in Huron County
The Huron County Board of Health approved a second reading of new and higher charges for multiple services including tuberculin tests vaccines for out-of-county residents and water sample analysis. Public pool permits restaurant inspections and septic tank truck registrations will largely double. A plan with Sheriff John Borgia to bill the health board $800 annually for Dr Howard Sparks jail visits was approved in principle with safety limits and clinic exams for venereal disease pending. Head Nurse Imelda Lodermeier notes the changes mostly cover costs and insurance payments will absorb most fees, with no patient denied care for inability to pay. Disaster coordinator Robert Hauser may fund radio beepers for home health staff to bolster safety.
