The U S Maritime Administration announced sale listings for nine World War II cargo ships to U S citizens or friendly foreign nationals. Ships include seven liberty ships one C2 vessel and one victory type naval auxiliary with hulls to be scrapped while machinery may be used abroad.
Defense manpower experts say the draft lottery will have little net effect on armed forces recruiting or the reserve officers program. They note Secretary Laird plans a 220,000 man force reduction by July 1 and that January draft impact will be about 12,500 men, less than half of the year's first ten months average.
