Third New London Marine Killed Leaves Two Dead Buddies
The sole survivor among three New London High School graduates who joined the Marines two years ago died Tuesday at Camp Pendleton California. Corporal Danny R. Helton 20 of Clarksfield died after a cardiac arrest caused by fluid in the lungs. Helton who served two years at Camp Lejeune was transferred to Camp Pendleton two months ago. The investigation into his death is ongoing. He is survived by his mother two siblings and grandparents. Burial and funeral arrangements are set for Eastman Funeral Home with military rites at North Fairfield Cemetery.
