India Recognizes Bangla Desh as War Surges East Pakistan
India acknowledged the Bangla Desh rebel government and said its troops with air supremacy were advancing rapidly through East Pakistan seeking a quick win. Audie Murphy to have VA hospital named in his honor
A bill to name a new 760 bed San Antonio VA hospital for Audie Murphy was sent to the White House after Senate passage. The $36 million facility, to be completed in December 1973, would honor Murphy the most decorated WWII soldier with 24 citations and a Medal of Honor. Other VA hospitals are named for Royal C. Johnson Franklin D. Roosevelt and Sam Rayburn.
