Rose Signs with Phillies Endorses Cap as New Star
Pete Rose, 37, will wear a Phillies cap as the newest club member after accepting a 3.2 million dollar four year contract. The deal follows a month of deliberation since leaving Cincinnati as Baseball's Man of the Year is named for the evening event. Rose cited offensive fit and proximity to friends Larry Bowa and Greg Luzinski, with Richie Hebner moving on in a potential trade. Phillies GM Paul Owens labeled Rose too good to bench, while owner Ruly Carpenter noted the team’s offer was far from seven figures.
