Reading program helps slow reader Johnny in Norwalk schools

Norwalk School Board Funds Readiness Bus as Mobile Classroom
The Norwalk City School Board spent about 10 300 last year on a special reading program in elementary grades. Of this 7 980 financed the reading specialist Edward Van Norman while 2 300 covered converting a retired school bus into a mobile classroom. The bus was valued at 275 and outfitted with wiring heating and flooring costs totaling 500 400 and 100 respectively. Furnishings used castaway desks and other furniture were provided by Henry Smith and the project included a library of 500 volumes and phonics workbooks.
