John Chancellor plans to leave his NBC Nightly News post after six years to become a roving reporter and news commentator. He told staff Thursday that a change is coming but did not specify timing.
The FDA cites five more possible deaths from liquid protein diets and an uncooperative industry stance. The agency says total possible deaths reach 31, with only 13 of 97 manufacturers agreeing to voluntary warning labels after a suggestion last month.
President Carter will visit six nations in Europe and Asia from December 29 to January 6, three nations in South America and Africa from March 24 to April 3, and attend an international economic summit in Bonn with a state visit to West Germany in June or July to project U S leadership.
