From Humble Beginnings to Papacy John Paul I
Albino Luciani, born in 1912 in Forno di Canale, rises from a Dolomite valley to become Pope John Paul I. A conservative reformer, he admits difficulty accepting religious liberty while mentoring under Cardinal Ottaviani. His early career included teaching, canon law, and catechism before being named bishop of Vittorio Veneto in 1958 amid early challenges.
