Bob Kay, a 13 year old eighth grader from Western Reserve High School, wins Reflector’s Great Potato Salad Contest with a letter praising his mother’s recipe. He and his parents, of 681 State Route 61 E., will receive a $15 prize by mail.
Pam Pannucchi, 11, a seventh grader at Berlin Milan Middle, places second in a contest urging why mothers potato salad is best and will receive ten dollars. Lynne Charville, 13, eighth grader at Norwalk Junior High, places third and gets five dollars.
Geauga County Sheriff Carl E Henderson faces a UPI report charges of corruption in office on 16 counts. Indicted by a grand jury for using the mail in illicit money making schemes. Trial set to begin in U S District Court with no plea bargaining.
National Organization for Women led walkathons in 80 cities from New York to California to commemorate voting rights for women and raise funds for the Equal Rights Amendment. The events drew thousands in silent majorities and featured banners and chants across the country.

Officials aim to ensure she travels of her own free will, amid prior refusals to depart the plane.
About 50 Local 731 members who struck Boxboard Packaging Co gathered at the courthouse as attorneys sought a temporary injunction to limit pickets. Local 731 aims to schedule a bargaining session and to expand picket rights while the union seeks mediation and a broader picket area at the St Marys Street plant.
Avery-Ehove Teachers Association returns to talks with the Board of Education as deadlocked issues linger. ETA accuses the board of refusing counter-proposals on salary longevity, hospitalization, life and dental insurance. Classes resume Wednesday with a staff meeting Tuesday to decide on possible unsanctioned return to the classroom. ETA already settled two non-monetary items and seeks new counter-offers.
