Atlantic City Democrats present a unity platform linking equal rights to responsibility. They condemn extremism on all sides and back the civil rights law with strong federal enforcement if local protections fail. President Johnson oversees the draft to avert renewed civil rights battles.

The crash occurred as Mrs Kramer traveled east on Highway 113 and Dyer south on Highway 4. neither saw the other due to a semaphore overhead.

Forty six petitions bearing 1 159 signatures were handed to the Erie County Board of Education two days before the deadline, more than double the required 35 percent to force the Berlin Milan school merger on the ballot. The board deferred action to Aug 31 for signature verification and to determine validity before certifying to the board of elections, which would place the issue on the Nov 3 ballot if approved.
Willard patrolman Charles Lindsay plans to appeal a 15 day suspension from the Willard Police Department. Attorney Phillip M. White said the appeal will be filed soon. Lindsay’s suspension, for insubordination rule violations, takes effect today and a personnel review board will hear the appeal. Lindsay, 53, has served 18 years with the department after a leave of absence.
In Strasbourg customs officers halted a car when a woman passenger wore a topless bathing suit. The officials let the car pass after she stated she had nothing to declare. She provided no other explanation for the garment.
Atty. Gen. Robert F Kennedy announced he will seek the New York Democratic senatorial nomination with backing from state party leaders including Mayor Robert Wagner. He pledged to resign from the cabinet to campaign if nominated, facing only minor opposition from Rep. Samuel Stratton. Keating called carpetbagging a campaign issue.
