Soviet Tass reports dry ice is sent from sub arctic Siberia to Igarka where permanent frost is weak. Ice packs around hollow piles are driven into the ground to freeze surrounding soil, providing a rigid base for buildings.
In Cleveland Howard Jackson 44 shot and killed Dorothy M. Harkey 35 as she hid in a bathroom with her two daughters and niece after a quarrel then fatally shot himself sources said detectives.
In Independence Ohio a 10 year old, Ralph Lee Payne Jr., choked when an extension cord used to light dog kennels wrapped around his neck and he began running. His father said the cord was new last year and not previously used by the boy.

Gary Hemming and an international team rescued two German climbers, Heinz Ramich and Hermann Mueller, from the Aiguille du Dru in the French Alps after a days long effort. The operation, coordinated by France's mountain training school, ended with the survivors brought to safety though a German climber died attempting another route.
Clarence J. Luce is named executive secretary of the Huron County Red Cross and will begin duties at Norwalk headquarters on Sept. 1. A 20 year Air Force veteran, Luce survived a POW camp and later worked at Plumbrook NASA. He and his wife are Norwalk natives with five children, living at 193 Whittlesey Avenue.
A North Fairfield Ohio man was killed in an automobile crash near Coldwater Michigan this morning. He remains unidentified pending family notification. Details of the accident were not immediately available.
Sheriff John Borgia’s office reports the red light sighting on Jacobs Road was a fuse stuck in a tree. A witness who investigated heard people running through a field and warned that lighting fuses in dry brush could cause a fire.
The travelling bag with initials JHR was accidentally taken by President Johnson from Dow Air Force Base near Bangor. Maine Governor John H. Reed jokes he will recover it soon as Reed confirms the mix up and the bag belongs back in Maine.
James E E Doyle Jr., 83, president of Rotary Printing Co and Fair Publishing House of Norwalk and Gulf Stream Press of Miami, died in Miami Beach. Survived by wife Hazel, three sons, two daughters, 18 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral mass set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church, burial in Miami. Walsh and Wood Funeral Home arranging.
A weekend surge of accidents included a tractor trailer rollover on U S 250 injuring no one but causing major damage as the driver Robert Tragesser of Penn was cited for insecure load. A Sunday Ohio 99 collision near Erie County sent Barbara Powley and Lavina Powley to hospital. A Willard man Clabern Phillips remained in hospital after a Townline Road crash. Donna Baker suffered a broken hip in a Warren area wreck.
About 200 people were arrested during a Sunday demonstration against the Vietnam War in Amsterdam. The arrests followed the protest march after organizers refused to seek permission from Burgomaster G. J. Van Hall.
A power disruption occurred east of Woodlawn Avenue when a tractor trailer carrying heavy construction equipment struck a utility pole. The pole shattered and a transformer fell, knocking out power shortly after noon in front of a service station at Woodlawn and Fast Main. Police were on scene. details were unavailable.
