Hike in sewer rate failed to pass at NL

New London village council defeated a proposed sewer rate increase and road widening plan. The rate rise would lift minimum charges and adjust bills for 10 000 gallon users, while senior citizen limits would stay at 35 percent. Councilman Dan Gessner cast the decisive no vote amid absent members. The council also transferred funds to cover a sewer deficit and blocked bids to widen Miner Road.
