Farmer 21 Is Charged In Shell Lake Killings
Victor Hoffman a 21 year old Saskatchewan farmer was arraigned on capital murder in nine member Shell Lake family deaths. A 4 year old girl survived the massacre as police recovered the alleged murder weapon a Belgian made Browning 22 caliber rifle. Hoffman released from a mental hospital a month before the killings was taken to a provincial hospital after arraignment.

New London deputies from Huron County Sheriff’s office and the New London Auxiliary Police will play a Donkey Softball game at 7:30 p.m. on August 26 at Recreation Park. Jaycees sponsor the event with seven donkeys in the field and three on the bases. Douglas Fetterman directs the program. Tickets are sold by Jaycees members.

Hay Silage Show Planned At Huron County Fair
The Huron County Soil and Water Conservation District Board plans the hay and silage show at the Huron County Fair in September with prizes in three silage classes and two hay classes. Any farmer in Huron County may enter. The next supervisors meeting is September 11 at the fairgrounds to prepare the exhibits booth.
