Stearns County Sheriff says David Hoskins signed a statement admitting he shot his wife and then set fire to the farm home where she and four children died. The incident occurred early Friday in Minnesota.
A Montana State University veterinarian says four grizzlies shot by a park ranger in Glacier National Park were not rabid. The bears are believed to have mauled two 19 year old women, Michelle Koons of San Diego and Julie Helgeson of Albert Lea, in separate park locations.
Senator John L McClellan renewed a four year dispute with the Defense Department over the F111B Navy version of the TFX. He urged Congress to cut all funds for its construction calling it a multibillion dollar blunder. The Pentagon dismissed the remarks as old hat.

Huron County commissioners filed Friday a 0.4 mill levy for five years to fund maintenance and operation of the planned school described as a sheltered workshop training center clinic and residences. The levy will be voted on by all county precincts.
In Peking a Red Guard clash at a rally denouncing street fighting injured more than 200 people. Reports also described fighting between rebel and loyalist troops in Canton and a second uprising in Chekiang Province, Chiang Kai shek’s birthplace, with the violence beginning August 12 at Gate of Heavenly Peace Square.
