Nichols Carries Trusty Putter Into Laurel Valley Title Bid
Defending champion Bobby Nichols brings his worn second hand putter to the 1965 PGA at Laurel Valley Golf Club. Nichols, 29, credits the club with his Columbus PGA victory last year, saying he would play as if without an arm without it. He led all rounds in Columbus with birdie putts up to 80 feet and a 271, a PGA 72 hole record. Nichols is an odds-beater, often at eight to one to win here after shocking Columbus at 300 to one.
