City Council President James V. Stanton blamed Cleveland’s power structure including finance, industry, and politics for the Hough riots. He urged indictments for others who did not appear before the grand jury during remarks at a Jaycees meeting.

Carl Gorman of Akron is hired as vocational director of EHOVE by the Board of Education. Gorman, 31, signed a 10 year contract for Sept 1 to June 30 at 12 000 yearly. Kent State program funds three fourths of the ten month salary, reducing local cost to under 3900 for first year.
A 60 foot section of the Heron Road Bridge under construction collapsed into the Rideau River in Ottawa. At least seven workers died and 51 were injured, 21 critically, as debris and wreckage flooded the river. Police sought rosters to account for missing workers while rescue teams used helicopters, saws, and divers to locate survivors.

Washington reports that the cost of feeding the American family rose five percent from a year earlier. For the three months ending in June households spent about 1095 dollars per year on food, up from 1038 last year. The Agriculture Department notes price increases across most items except fruits and vegetables.
FBI report filed with Norwalk police states that Car A, owned by Marlene F. Draper, RD 1, reported stolen in Norwalk on May 8, was recovered in Chicago on June 27. The vehicle was taken from a parking place.
A Wakeman sheriff's sale this morning sold the Clark Street property formerly owned by Roger A. Robinson for 11900 dollars. Purchasers are Richard A. and Beverly Brickley.

A Norwalk buyer paid 344 for door and window plus 25 travel fee. local contractor says top cost should not exceed 100. If canceled the buyer owes 40 percent of the price.
Attorneys for Reflec tor Herald and Dedaimin Whitney have been granted more time to oppose a motion to strike by Edwin W. Price’s counsel. Price’s lawyers seek to strike a separate answer filed for Miss Whitney, a minor, by guardian Parker M. Orr of Cleveland.
Congressman Sen Clifford P Case of New Jersey accused a fellow member of blackmail and extortion over soliciting paid attendance at a reception from federal employees. He read a civil service typist's complaint describing a letter that began with a glowing biography and offered four tickets with a return card.
In a public statement, Case condemns use of office for fundraising blackmail. He calls the approach a loophole in the Corrupt Practices Act and a contemptible form of extortion harming democracy. The letter cited describes pressure linked to livelihoods and political influence.
