Ohio Lottery Commission executive director John Kirkland announced tickets will go on sale Friday instead of Monday. The 50 cent tickets will be sold after mail and materials reached more than 10 000 sales agents earlier than expected.
The Norwalk Area United Fund aims for an 86 100 goal for 1974, up slightly from last year. Campaign runs Oct 1 to 22 with Herbert Lawrie chairing and Ed White as publicity head.
City engineers urge a new raw water source and filtration plant to meet growth to 22,500 by 2000 with seven million gallons daily capacity. East Branch of the Huron River proposed as primary supply. Lake Erie option deemed not economical. Sites south of Norfolk and Western tracks or east of Old State Road eyed for new plant costing 3.7 to 3.8 million. Erie County water plan under study. power plant may be phased out. Study cost 1200 dollars, refundable if construction proceeds.
Adams County schedules Aug 13 public auction to reclaim property taxes Penn Central collected from tenants but did not remit. Treasurer Robert Kolter says he only recently learned the railroad was collecting taxes in Adams County and directing payments to the railroad instead of the county.
Bell System employees on both coasts staged walkouts Tuesday to protest the tentative nationwide contract settlement. Pacific Bell workers in Orange County California struck with about 600 taking one day off, while 200 Communications Workers of America members walked out in Ohio Bell over alleged poor communication on pact terms.
Philippe Petit, a 25-year-old French street performer, walked a 1350 foot high wire between the World Trade Center towers for about two hours before being arrested and taken to a hospital for observation. He had reportedly previously scaled Notre Dame Cathedral.

Jacobsen former milk producers cooperative lawyer pleads guilty to giving John Connally a $10000 bribe and agrees to testify against him. He faces up to two years in prison and a $10000 fine while Connally faces multiple counts and possible 19 years. The plea drops other charges against Jacobsen.
Washington reports Nixon faces increasing pressure from his party and allies to quit. House impeachment threat and Senate removal push Republicans toward resignation, with Sen. Tower saying majority favors stepping aside as Nixon rejects stepping down despite cabinet briefings. Treasury Secretary Simon and deputy press secretary say he is not considering resigning.
Norwalk officials learn Ohio Edison plans to end the two year rate protection, triggering an update to electric charges. The company cites higher capital costs and new environmental requirements as the reasons, with PUCO reviews ongoing for Level B and a settled Level A increase of 15.5 percent in neighboring Sandusky.
City council members held two meetings with Riley about reopening and leasing the closed city landfill after Riley’s franchise expired. Riley proposed a free-use deal in exchange for handling the city sanitation dump, arguing 21.12 acres are used and more capacity exists.
