Other contestants include Melanie Austin and Nancy Ensminger from Norwalk, plus several local residents. Entries due next week. judging includes interviews and speeches. The pageant is Friday May 28 at 8 p.m. at the Towne and Country Regional Arts Center. Contestants must be 16 to 21 and reside in the Norwalk school district. college students require parental residence in district.
Huron County Commissioners approve a 1976 road resurfacing plan sealing 56.6 miles at an estimated $147,688. Major project covers 12.5 miles of Zenobia Road for $31,900. New State Road 7.4 miles from Ridge Road to North Fairfield costs $21,034. Additional projects list miles and costs for Went, Butler, Town Line, Lovers Lane, River, and other roads totaling the program.
The Park and Recreation Commission sponsors a 8 pm dance at Norwalk Junior High with East Wind from Cleveland. Tickets are 2 dollars a couple or 1.50 for individuals. A special family review of Follies Of 1976 by Towne and Country Players also airs at 8 with all seats priced at 1 dollar.
Melvin Dummar, a Willard Utah mechanic, reportedly received a handwritten will claiming one sixteenth of Howard Hughes estate, about 125 million dollars of a 2 billion estimate, for aiding a desert stranger eight years ago. The man, identified as Hughes, allegedly asked for a ride to Las Vegas and later died. Dummar recalls the encounter between Tonopah and Beatty and dropping the man at the Sands Hotel.
Hubert Humphrey tears up as he announces he will not actively pursue the Democratic presidential nomination. He may accept a draft at the July convention, will not fund raise, and plans to run for re election to the Senate from Minnesota. He vows to stay involved and remain ready if the party needs him.
