Willard Man Suspected in Shooting of Police Dog
A 21 year old man from Willard is accused of shooting Willard’s police dog Sam early Sunday. Assistant Prosecutor Richard Hauser says he will present evidence to the grand jury May 20 on a felonious vandalism charge against William Sawyer III, who also faced a weapons under disability count. The dog was critically wounded by a shotgun blast and is hospitalized in Ft Wayne. Sawyer was arrested Sunday morning after police responded to a disorderly incident and seized a shotgun later sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for analysis.
