Explosion Injures 12 at Ohio Edison Stack near Stratton

A blast at the Ohio Edison No. 2 stack in Stratton near East Liverpool injures 12 people. The extent of injuries was not immediately known and victims were taken to area hospitals. Police say leaking gas may have caused the explosion.

Colorado Students Rename Grill After Cannibal Alfred E. Packer

University of Colorado students vote to rename the Student Union Grill in honor of Alfred E. Packer the 19th century cannibal convicted in Lake City Colorado in 1883. The campus resolution says the grill now reflects the life and standards associated with Mr. Packer.

Norwalk Tornado Alert Sparks Basement Refuge

Norwalk residents rushed to basements during a tornado and thunderstorm alert broadcast via TV and radio. Eighty-three-year-old Mrs Clara Fowler improving in hospital

Mrs Clara Fowler of Milliman Road is reported improving at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital from poor to fair after a two car crash Monday. Lucinda Kirk age five, of 45 N Old State Road remains in serious condition in Elyria Memorial Hospital's intensive care ward after colliding with a dump truck near her home Monday.

Delayed Dedication Ties Airport Opening to Fly-Ins

Huron County Airport dedication postponed to align with Ohio Division of Aviation fly-ins. Gov James A Rhodes will lead TV and radio personalities visiting airports built under the county plan.
