Ohio state officials warn of a possible ground water shortage after precipitation from October 1, 1976 to March 31 was well below normal. Department Director Robert Teater notes 4.91 inches below normal statewide and 62 percent of normal in central Ohio.

In Naples Florida Billy Carter's charity softball game will charge each batter $100 while spectators pay $5. The fee sparked a boycott by swamp buggy drivers and led to sponsorship withdrawal by the American Cancer Society citing Carter as undesirable. Proceeds go to the Collier County Charity Trust Fund.

About 100 placard bearing wives gather in rain outside the federal building to protest the EEOC order requiring Lee Way Freight Co. to hire women drivers. Their concerns include cab space and facilities for women, while EEOC director J O Garcia calls fears unfounded and notes no legal remedy.
