Two alarm fire gutted the interior of John and Mrs. Ousley’s seven room home at 109 West Avenue. Damage estimated at 26 000 with the garage also harmed. No injuries. Fire started from a fat burning pan exploding.
Two 17 year old Wakeman area boys admitted consuming liquor earlier in the evening after a dance at Norwalk Junior High School. Their parents were summoned to the Norwalk police station to take them home. The boys said the alcohol came from the liquor supply of one of the boys' fathers.
A note found in the car of 40 year old Curtis Owsley after his death from gunshot wounds is being sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for handwriting comparison. Owsley was found in a barn at his estranged wife’s North Fairfield home. Norwalk police issued a statewide alert for a missing 16 year old girl who skipped school and whose clothing was missing. New London police questioned several suspects in a strong armed robbery. a clue was sent to the BCI for analysis. Eunice Hall reported a man knocked her down as he took receipts bonds and cash totaling about 1000 dollars. In Milan four Edison High students will attend Buckeye Boys State June 12-20 as delegates with local and regional sponsors. A utility building under construction near the Route 18 overpass suffered fire damage Friday morning. losses were about 200 dollars.
Four year old Matthew Romell was found walking along Route 61 and listed in satisfactory condition at Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital. He had a forehead gash and other injuries with no clear explanation of how he was hurt. deputies planned another interview as he remained frightened.
