Norwalk seeks 100 coaching applicants for football and basketball
More than 100 applications have been received for Norwalk High coaching posts. Superintendent S R Corbin said notices were sent to 100 colleges in four states and most applicants are experienced coaches. A few with no experience may be considered for junior high posts, while teaching vacancies complicate coaching assignments.

Willard Man Is Found Not Guilty in Animal Neglect Case

Interstate Will Close Norwalk Station
Interstate Systems Inc announced the Norwalk relay station will close August 1 to cut costs if a Toledo facility is ready. Operations supervisor M M Noblett said the small facility is redundant with a new 51 mile away location. The Milan Board of Public Affairs seeks about a 20 percent water rate increase, to be decided by the village council tonight. Diesel Engine Flips After Crash at Greenwich Crossing
A New York Central diesel engine flipped end over end after colliding with a semi at a Greenwich crossing. The truck driver was killed and a railway brakeman injured. Killed instantly was Claire E. Alford, 56, of New Castle, Pa. The train continued 1 500 feet before the front engine cartwheeled. Three train men survived. James Curtis was seriously hurt and hospitalized. Engineer W A Reams and fireman Ray P Allen were treated and released. Police Credit signals and a second approaching train for confusion at the crossing.
