A 14 year old boy died after being shot while fleeing from a private apartment pool where he and four companions sneaked a dip. Police say a woman, Maria Otero, owner of the building, surrendered and was charged with first degree murder. Johnny Perez was struck in the head and died four hours later.
The Ohio Lottery Commission deputy director said a chain store earned more than 150000 from 50 cent tickets in the first 30 weeks with a 5 percent commission and bonuses. Kroger led with 150000, followed by Fisher-Fazio 83000 and other retailers. Maple City Ice Co a beer and wine distributor in Norwalk begins a 250000 dollar warehouse and office complex and a 375000 dollar Chestnut Glen apartment addition on Water Street. The project includes a 190 by 134 foot steel building with five offices a lobby and maintenance area set to open in stages mid June and October. It will store about 100000 beer cases and 22400 wine cases with a 924 half barrel beer keg cooler. The firm started in 1917 and employs 48 people with two branches Mansfield Distributing and Lorain County Beverage. Milan Steel Co. is the contractor.
