Ohioans can expect mostly sunny Easter Day with highs in the 60s in the north and 70s to low 80s elsewhere. A breeze may gust to 15 mph Sunday afternoon and early highs be tempered by chilly 30s to 40s in the morning.

In Brownsville Texas a 12 year old 300 pound lowland gorilla named Lamydoc faces a potential kidney ailment. A team of human medical specialists including Dr. Ted McMillin Dr. Roger Baker and Dr Charles Fox are conducting tests to determine operability. If diagnosable the team plans surgical intervention though initial steps focus on assessing the condition.
Joseph Hurley Maplehurst School principal will retire effective June 24 and has submitted a retirement letter to the Norwalk Board of Education which will discuss it at 8 p.m. meetings. Agenda also includes 15 faculty registrations. A separate note mentions an animal surgery discussion about a gorilla with experts consulted nationwide.
William L. Waddell will not go on trial for murder Monday as defense motions may be filed and depositions sought. Judge Robert W. Smith noted no new date was set, with 300 jurors notified and a fresh panel possible after April 30. Waddell, 25, is charged with aggravated murder in Timothy House's shooting death in Monroeville on November 4 and faces a Delaware County murder count as well.
Norwalk native Stan Borgia played a key undercover role in Lorain County gambling raids. He bought gambling items and placed bets during a three month period before the raids staged by state authorities with Lorain County officials. Borgia works for the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification based at London.
The United Steelworkers announce a tentative three year contract with the 10 largest steelmakers. It includes guaranteed income and job security for about 340,000 workers. Ratification by some 600 local union presidents was pending.
