A cross-country roundup of UPI dispatches shows Sen. Robert F. Kennedy urging self-policing by cigarette and broadcast advertisers to curb youth smoking, with threats of tougher federal sanctions if a voluntary crackdown fails to materialize.
Legislation to extend the Medicare enrollment deadline passed the Senate and headed to the House for final approval. A Monday vote in the House could approve the measure which would allow enrollment through May 31 for the $3 monthly supplementary benefits to about one million elderly Americans.

A federal judge ordered the railway firemen's union to show cause why it should not face contempt of court for a three day strike against eight railroads. Eight struck railroads sought contempt citation after the injunction, aiming to end the nationwide disruption to rail service. The BLFE had urged back to work if line pledges against firing strikers and against contempt or damage suits were given.
Between 1:15 and 2:30 a.m. two drivers died in separate accidents near Norwalk as cars struck bridges within eight miles of the city. Bennie Parsons of Green Springs died at the Route 20 scene west of Monroeville, while Glen Teeple of Vickery died shortly after hospital arrival.
Buddhist students in Saigon marched with bicycle chains and clubs shouting Yankees go home. They overturned cars, demanding the military government resign amid anti American overtones. In Da Nang about 10,000 protested causing US authorities to deploy patrols to avert incidents. Some wounded soldiers joined the marches.
Aaron Goldman pleads with the kidnapper to contact authorities after his 18-year-old son Daniel Jesse Goldman was abducted from the family home in Surfside Florida. Police and FBI pursue leads with no official comment as the family appeals publicly for a safe return.
In Vietnam near Chu Pong mountain two companies of the 1st Air Cavalry Division trapped an estimated 100 Viet Cong in a valley and called in air strikes artillery and tear gas. B52 strikes led a large air strike campaign while Allied ground forces killed 57 guerrillas and captured two.
A building permit is issued to Eugene and John Harkelroad to expand their car wash at 41 St Marys Street. Jockey spins records and Oberlin folk group entertain 300 students at a school dance. Council advisers listed as Mrs. Robert Hein baugh and Dave Sommers.
