Power and Will Cost You More In Norwalk Edison rate hike approved

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved a 5.5 million dollar rate increase for Ohio Edison's Class B area including Norwalk and Bellevue. The rise amounts to about 19 percent for most small cities and roughly six dollars more on a thirty dollar bill, with Norwalk expected to see higher percentage changes. The rate tables must be prepared for PUCO inspection, delaying implementation by over a month. A second Edison rate request, filed last January, could raise Norwalk rates further this summer if approved. Electric rates there had been unusually low for six years due to a city power plant sale and a rate freeze that expired in 1974.
