Norwalk selects its sesquicentennial queen tonight at a reception before the ball. Contestants include Susan Schauss Cruz Ann Stuart Linda Getz Donna Jean Meifert Margaret Marie Finch Mary Pat Lodermeier and Mrs Wayne McCoy. Judges are Jack Mayer Kay Lutes and Harry Jump. Kenneth W. Earl, former North Fairfield marshal, is named full time deputy in Huron County Sheriff's Department. Announcement by Sheriff John Borgia says the 46 year old will work the evening jail shift starting today. Willard Woman Charged Over Slain 3 1/2 Year Old
A 3 1/2 year old girl Sharon Lawrence was found dead in Willard with hanging and stabbing injuries. Her mother Mrs Patricia Lawrence 26 a registered nurse and former mental patient is being questioned and faces charges. The incident occurred about 8 40 am and the grandmother reported the murder. The mother had been staying home weekend release from Tiffin State Hospital where she is a patient and had mental health care for years. The body was taken to Secor Funeral Home.

Pioneer Rubber Pact Ratified Ends Willard Strike
Local 804 members in Willard ratified a first labor contract with Pioneer Rubber Co by 300 to 80, ending a 66 day strike that began January 25. About 600 workers walked out. operations to resume at Willard and Attica plants Monday. Details of the pact remain undisclosed. it covers wages, working conditions and fringe benefits.

Radio settlement ends strike at Mutual network
Network newsmen and staff announcers returned to work as AFTRA suspended four day old strike against ABC CBS and NBC. Mutual's Friday night settlement prompted withdrawal of pickets in Washington and New York. The joint statement said Mutual's issues were with a radio only operation, not the three network giants.

Norwalk Woman Dies Ten Days After Fall at Home
Mrs. John B. Chappell 49 of 103 Jefferson St died Friday night at Sandusky Memorial Hospital after a fall in her home ten days earlier. Erie County Coroner said death related to the accident though exact cause not yet determined. she had hip surgery March 21. She was born Mary Ann Russum in Albany New York on June 17 1917 and is survived by her husband two sons John Jr in Vietnam and Douglas at home plus three brothers and two sisters. Burial in Columbia Cemetery with services at Heaston Hile Funeral Home in charge. No local calling hours.
