Kelvyn Park High School PTA will hold the first meeting of the term at 1 p.m. on September 17 in room 209 at 4343 Wrightwood. Dr. Bernard Quish, the principal, will discuss school advantages while a freshmen mothers luncheon starts at 12:30 p.m. The group also lists officers and chairmen led by President Mrs. Herman Spranger and program chairman Mrs. Estelle Lauria.
Hill presents eight housing and services programs to expand educational opportunities and strengthen community life. Proposals include private mental health services, youth activities, daycare, and senior programs, plus school and library upgrades. Emphasis on crime prevention, better police and fire facilities, and industrial zoning with noise and odor controls. Portle New principal Joseph J Portle takes helm at Prosser Vocational High School 2148 N Leng for 1968 69 opening. A Chicago Public Schools veteran Portle holds a Illinois bachelor from University of Illinois Northwestern masters and shows broad teaching and administrative experience in mathematics drafting industrial arts and aviation related training.

The Logan Square Association announces its first annual street fair from September 13 to 16 on Kedzie between Linden and Albany near the L terminal. Hours are 6 30 to 10 30 p m nightly with a Sunday matinee at 1 30 p m. Events include rides games of skill and chance nightly door prizes and a closing night grand drawing.

The North Crawford chamber of commerce will hold its regular meeting at 12 30 p m tomorrow Thursday on the fourth floor of the Pioneer Bank Building at 4000 North.
Robert Philip Edidin 26 promoted to assistant vice president of the Capitol Bank of Chicago. Scandiff announced four new directors Armand Cortesi Shire Kipnis Edward Saltzberg and Alphonse S Vanni. Edidin a Northwestern and Roosevelt alum plans a November wedding to Sondra Raben. He is in U S Army Reserve as a staff sergeant.
St Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr opens its diamond jubilee with a 4 p.m. pontifical mass led by Bishop Aloysius Wycislo at 5352 Belden. Civil and religious dignitaries join a procession and students depict the parish history of 25 year periods. A September 21 dinner at Chateau Royale in the International room features Master of Ceremonies U S Representative Dan Rostenkowski and Bishop Wycislo delivering the invocation.
Military authorities in Hanau investigate the shooting death of Spec 4 Michael A. Geanto 19 son of Mr and Mrs Carmen G Geanto 1326 N Avers He was found at his guard post August 24 likely shot with his own .45 pistol Col Robert A Person said in a telegram Geanto an excellent soldier and well liked He graduated Prosser Vocational High School in 1967 and joined the army for three years Funeral services were held at Our Lady of the Angels church Burial was in St Joseph cemetery He is survived by his parents two sisters Diane and Deborah a brother Carmen
Ends eight weeks of recruit training at San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot. He will undergo two to four weeks of individual combat training, take leave at home, then report to his first Marine Corps assignment.
County Recorder Sidney R. Olsen, Democratic candidate for re election as recorder of deeds of Cook county, will be honored at a testimonial dinner 6 30 p m next Wednesday at Plumbers auditorium 1340 Washington. Many political civic business and professional leaders are expected to attend. Olsen served as Clerk of the Criminal courts for ten years when that was an elective office. He was also associate director of the state Department of Registration and Education by Adlai Stevenson when he was governor.
The Child Mental Health Center Logan Square branch announces a schedule change. Starting September 1 the office will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The center is located at 3900 Fullerton.
