The Logan Square YMCA announces a fall program with multiple classes. Art in oil and landscape painting, beginning oil techniques, grade school sketching, model airplane building, fly tying, judo and karate, swimming for all levels, and a reading tutoring program. St Anne's Hospital at 4950 Thomas announces Gerald T. Geouque as full time safety and security chief. A Michigan State University graduate with a B.S. in police administration, Geouque is a Battle Creek native who has trained at Chicago area police and fire safety institutes. He emphasizes total security for patients visitors and staff.
The Rev. Thomas Murphy of St. Francis of Rome parish will speak on How Is Johnny Doing at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cyril and Methodist Church 4256 Walton. The session opens a four part series for the school year aimed at informing parents about school happenings and improving understanding of their children’s education.

Mid City Choral society plans rehearsals starting Sunday for its annual Handel Messiah presentation on December 1 at Sharon Lutheran Church. Rehearsals run 2 p.m. each Sunday at 2140 N Richmond. George Rice directs the choir and invites singers of all levels to join and perform with the accompanying orchestra. The first performance is 3 p.m. December 1 at Sharon Lutheran Church which sponsors the group’s community ministry.
