Safe Keeping County Recorder Sidney R. Olsen signs the bill of lading for 3 824 857 microfilmed documents moved from the County Building to the State Archives in Springfield. The 2 798 rolls in 24 containers will be stored at the state capitol to safeguard legal instruments from fire flood or other disaster. Documents dated 1904 to 1920 and 1967 to 1968 were filed before storage and reveal progress toward completing microfilming by 1970.

Special Citations Awarded for Police Bravery in Chicago Shootout
The widow of Sgt. Gerald Doll and Officer William Redden received special citations for actions during a gun battle that left an ex convict wanted for robbery slain. Detective Thomas Reilly was honored for capturing three armed men during a gas station robbery attempt. Doll was killed March 29, 1967. Redden, 38, assisted and wounded the fleeing suspects.
