Couple To Be Commissioned In Salvation Army
Cadet and Mrs Romolo Guidice will be commissioned as lieutenants in a ceremony at 7:30 p.m. June 8 in Orchestra Hall. Commissioner Paul J. Carlson will award the commissions to 16 men and 33 women who completed two years at the school for officers training. The Messengers of the Faith class includes 12 married couples. Activities include an open house June 8 and dedication service June 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Prudential building auditorium.

Austin Evening School Closes For Fall Reopening
The evening division of Austin High School will end the 1967 68 school year tomorrow. Classes resume in September after Fall semester registration on September 4 and 5. The school will graduate 23 adults from high school and nine from the elementary department.

Ex-Con Slain After Gun Battle Wounds Two Austin Officers
Two Austin officers James Ross and Daniel Burke were wounded in a dawn gun battle with 31-year-old Rosendo Rodriguez who was killed. Suspect William Nichols, 40, was arrested after the exchange near the Office Lounge tavern on Madison Street. Rodriguez had armed robbery convictions and was on parole. officers praised the quick action that likely prevented further harm to patrons and the owner.

Fathers Day Program At Austin Senior Citizens
The Austin Senior Citizens will host a special fathers day program at 12 noon on June 1. Prizes will be awarded for the oldest father and the father with the most children. A magic program will entertain all boys and girls under eighty.
