West Side day at the Chicago Auto show set for Friday March 1 at the International Amphitheater. Ganey leads the planning committee and will host dealers from the area with a prize drawing including a Mexico vacation.
Illinois state Rep. Jacob Wolf faulted a federal three judge ruling striking down the one year residency requirement for public aid. He said a migration of uneducated workers could burden taxpayers, noting Illinois has about 451000 public aid recipients, with 300000 in Cook County.
Fifteen youths including six girls were found sniffing airplane glue at Carl Wagner's rear apartment 1857 N Mozart. Police arrested Wagner and others aged 17 to 18 and booked them at Shakespeare station with court dates set for January 19.
Congressman Daniel J. Rowan of Illinois announces the 1967 Yearbook of Agriculture Outdoors USA is available at no charge through his Longworth Office in Washington. The volume covers USDA public activities from recreation to conservation for the hunter fisher and camper and the conservation minded citizen.
The Resolutions committee plans a 7:30 p.m. session at Blackhawk park 2318 N Lavergne inviting groups from Cicero to Central to discuss local youth housing and Crosstown expressway issues. Delegates will review concerns at the Community congress on January 28 at Prosser High School.
A snowy owl perched on Orr High School in Chicago last week drawing the focus of students and teachers. The bird sat on the roof from about 7 am until late in the day, devouring a pigeon and prompting calls to conservation officials.
The Northwest Family Counseling committee will meet at 7 30 p m Monday at the Logan Square YMCA to discuss establishing a family counseling center by the division of mental health. The area is bounded by Belmont Kennedy Expressway Harlem and North. The committee has held two prior public meetings and will consider the center’s location.
A speech therapist, a visiting nurse, and an exchange teacher from England will discuss the subject Share Our Ideas at the Nobel PTA meeting tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the school located at 4127 Hirsch.

The Logan Square YMCA at 3600 Fullerton announces a winter schedule starting January 15. Expanded adult education art classes led by Edward Cathony include beginner and advanced oil painting. the advanced class begins January 16 evenings. Other offerings include beginner painting with Helen Spengler January 15, beginner sculpture with Arnold Hottinger January 17, and judo and karate classes starting January 20 led by instructors with extensive credentials. Witnesses from Humboldt Park heard Angelo C. Manera Jr. speak at the International Amphitheatre on how God will intervene in men's affairs. He cited past and current examples and urged that God will destroy wicked elements and usher in a new system under Christ's Kingdom. Edward Arnold described a future free of oppression, poverty, and injustice, with followers continuing door to door ministry.
A series of three regional hearings precede the sixth Northwest Community Organization Congress on Feb 18 at Holy Trinity High School auditorium. Hearings aim to stimulate interest in program resolutions nominate officers and gather ideas. Meetings are Jan 15 Jan 18 and Jan 24 at designated community venues.
Louis Venitti and his wife, inside their 1000 N Monticello shop, were surprised by two gunmen who herded them into a back room. They stole 1000 dollars in cash and 2000 dollars in cashed checks, but did not loot the register's 150 dollars. Police reported the incident after the men fled.
Herman Lutzow reports Helen's Music at 2322 N Cicero was broken into last weekend. Thieves forced a front door lock and stole more than $2000 worth of records and a television set.
