Yost Wins $15,000 Verdict Against Union Pacific

The Missouri Supreme Court affirmed the nine year old damage case against Union Pacific, ordering a reduction of the judgment to $15,000. Will Yost, county clerk, and his attorney C W Yost report the ruling and immediate compliance.

Milwaukee Physicians Propose Ban on Kissing

The Milwaukee Physicians association will draft a bill for the next legislature to stop kissing, deeming it a blot on civilization and a menace to health and decency. A dozen papers were read at the meeting which also discussed a nose rubbing substitute as more decent.

County clears debt as final bond paid

County Treasurer Durbin paid bond No. 13 last Wednesday completing the North Platte bridge issue. It was the last county bond and leaves Lincoln County without outstanding indebtedness though precinct bonds remain. The county thus shows an excellent financial standing and reasons for congratulation.

Buick Model 36 Sets North Platte Run Record

J. B. Davis Auto Co. of North Platte Nebraska reports a Buick Model 36 driven from any viage and Myrtle to North Platte with two passengers. The clutch and gear lever were not touched and the engine stayed cool throughout. The radiator overfilled on arrival, with no water added en route, suggesting a record performance between the two points.

Violin Recital by Carl Steckelberg Tonight

The North Platte School of Music presents Carl Frederic Steckelberg of the University School of Music in a violin recital at the Masonic Hall tonight at 8 30. Admission is 50 cents with tickets at Clinton's. He has toured the United States and parts of Europe and is acclaimed as an artist of the highest order.

Plenty Water Promised From Pathfinder Reservoir Inflow

A letter to Water Commissioner Palmer reports Pathfinder reservoir nearly full with inflow around 14 000 to 6 000 second feet and expected to continue till at least the 25th. A Walden Forest Range report notes snow in mountains and warmer weather will push water to the North Platte. With Pathfinder filling in about seven days discharge may reach 8 000 to 12 000 second feet before July.

The Republican National Convention in Chicago opened at noon with ongoing clashes between Taft and Roosevelt factions. Taft supporters held gains as Foot won the temporary chair position over McGovern, and the credential fight over ninety two Taft delegates proceeds.

Joseph Schatz went to Slaney on business. Milton Doolittle plans to visit Lincoln at the start of the week for a week or more of business. Henry Abshire, formerly of Sutherland now in Idaho, visited town early this week. Local dealers are selling about $1500 worth of gasoline monthly or daily as tourists pass through. Gasoline sales today bring in money for station owners.
