The Red Cross asks Lincoln County residents to donate to the $100,000,000 national relief fund. It cites care for sick and wounded service members and provides for families, labeling the cause as urgent and patriotic with listed local officers and committees.
The first market day for the school children’s garden will be held Saturday in front of Central School. Garden club members should bring vegetables by ten o’clock for sale. City ladies are urged to buy early vegetables at this market to support the children’s efforts.
Anderson, after traveling to Ft Riley Kansas to address army transport issues, will oversee heavy troop and traffic movement. Twenty miles of sidetracks are planned and the main line will be double tracked for five miles with a day and night switching crew assigned. Vic, recovering from a broken leg, faces a busy period.

A farm hand Vanneman was shot on the left side and abdomen by A Steinhausen of the Bige farm at O Fallon after a quarrel. Vanneman was brought to Nurse Brown Hospital Wednesday for treatment. Steinhausen faces charges and information will be filed.
Notice states that the County Commissioners will sit as a Board of Equalization on June 1 2021 to adjust assessment values and hear complaints. Also notes L W Trester of the Naval Training Association will be in North Platte Monday and Tuesday for a recruiting campaign and the Indian Card Club meeting with Mrs James Hart on Tuesday evening June 19. R G Smith of Grand Island former wire chief at the local telephone office spent yesterday here.
A public meeting for the Red Cross will be held at 8 p m in the Franklin school auditorium to discuss raising Lincoln county contribution toward Nebraska's 19 000 of a 100 000 000 national drive. Leaders urge patriots to support wounded soldiers and organize county efforts with no slackers.
Next week is Red Cross week as Lincoln county officials organize a countywide pledge drive to raise 19000 toward the national goal of 100 million. Precincts and country towns will be visited today and tomorrow with plans to solicit subscriptions in every home.
A sizable crowd attended Flag Day exercises hosted by the Diks at Nate home last evening. Members of the G A R and W R C were present. Stamp's orchestra played patriotic airs and the Elks Quartet offered two selections. Wit the Miss Elder and Master Tout gave flag recitations. Speaker W V Hoagland praised the flag's role in a government by the people for the people as the closing audience sang America.
