Registration day set for June 25 in county

The county registration committee for all male residents over sixteen will hold registration on Tuesday June 25 with outside North Platte sites at schoolhouses under school officers. North Platte plans are still undecided. Also listed are men volunteering for special training at the state university in Lincoln with varied trades.

Boys Leave for Denver to Seek Navy or Other Service

Louis Kelly, Chas Rincker, Will Norris and Francis OConnell departed last night for Denver. Norris twice attempted to enlist but was rejected because of defective vision. He hopes to secure a role in Uncle Sam's work in some branch of the military service.

Six Nolan Brothers Join National Service From North Platte

North Platte notes a remarkable family record with six Nolan brothers serving in the U S armed forces. Paul A. Nolan attends the officers training school at Camp Cody. James F. Nolan serves with the 4th Engineering Corps in France. Francis F. Nolan with Co G 255th Infantry at Camp Mills. James A. Nolan in training at Gordon Georgia. Arthur C. Nolan enlisted at Grand Island and headed to Camp Fremont. Charles Nolan in Grand Island for Railway Engineering Corps enlistment. The parents, now departed, raised patriotic sons and the family stands as a notable Nebraska example of national service.

County admissions tax ruling under war revenue act

The internal revenue bureau ruled on Tuesday that county or state agricultural force admissions are not taxable if they fund a non profit fair association and are educational in nature. Inside attractions with special charges are not taxable. Side shows paying royalties to the fair organization are taxable.

W. T. Beery receives promotion to tipster mechanic of the Kansas division with a higher salary and will be succeeded by Wm. Irwin. The Lead er Merc offers shoe bargains including Baby Doll prices and several size ranges. The Law of the Great Northwest is shown at Crystal Saturday. First Presbyterian church announces Sunday school at 10 am Children’s Day exercises at 11 am and preaching at 7 pm.
