Happy Hearts Unite in Grinnell Nuptials and Local Weddings
Miss Helen Morris and Jay Clark Jr married in Congregational church Grinnell last Thursday evening in a grand ceremony. Rev D F Bradley officiated, with Dick Clark as best man and Christine Kendrick as maid of honor. A reception followed at the Flock home with over a hundred guests and pink and white decorations. Also, Miss Vina Scott wed A L Brand in Grinnell, a four course supper, and later a Belle Plaine reception. Mr Brand described as an honest industrious hire. A third marriage, Miss Mare Engle to Charles J. Johnson, occurred at the Engle home with a lavish white Persimmon gown, white roses, and a large social gathering. Death notices follow for Mrs. Swearingen, aged 55, with funeral at the home conducted by Rev. Leake and interment at Mt Zion Cemetery.

Ray Drew Elected President of Iowa Anti-Cigarette League
At the State Sabbath School Convention in Sioux City Ray Drew son of Mr and Mrs Freeman Drew was nearly unanimously elected president of the State Anti Cigarette League of Iowa which has over twenty five thousand members in the state. He is a model young man who graduated from Newton city schools last year and has adopted a high moral standard. Dr H H Hunter’s life hangs by a thread this Wednesday afternoon as he lies unconscious and unable to respond while friends and family gather and watch by his side.

The Woodmen held their memorial services last Sunday at the Christian Church with an address by J E M S McLaughlin Esq and fine music from a quartet. A procession to the cemetery followed, headed by Joe K T Bond, with floral tributes on each grave. Albert Lufkin departed for Oklahoma Tuesday morning.
