Death of Abraham Livingston in Southeast Newton at 19
Abraham Livingston aged nineteen years and four days died at his home in Southeast Newton at four o clock Monday morning December 1. He was born in Sioux county and moved to Newton at three months old. He endured a severe illness about three years prior.

Williamson Carrothers former Jasper County resident dies suddenly at Hed Wood Falls Minnesota while visiting family. He was born March 11 1825 in Harrison County Ohio and held public roles including County Recorder from 1875 to 1880 and superintendent of the Poor Farm. Funeral at M E church conducted by Reverend Cowan as friends and old regiment members attend.

Oriental Commandery No 22 Knights Templar held a grand asylum banquet with 244 guests and evening dances. Thayer Kramer’s Des Moines orchestra supplied music for a multi-night series starting this week with two more events set for December 26, 1895 and February 4, 1896 featuring Beloit orchestra. Obituary and Society Notes From Newton Area
The town mourns Mrs. Nancy Agnes Meyers born March 13 1819 Green County Pennsylvania died in Walnut Iowa December 1895 aged 76 years 9 months and 19 days. Her life spanned Knox County Ohio Newton and Walnut Iowa with family and church ties strong. A Newton Christian Church member since 1829 she saw most of her children turn to the Lord. The service at the Baxter Christian Church included floral tributes and a graveside burial at Baxter cemetery. Also reported is a reunion plan for Hazel Dell Academy alumni and notices of itinerant minister reflections and community welcome events in Metz and Jasper counties.

Joax Dowden, aged 75, longtime Jasper county resident and Ohio native, died at his Baxter home on Sunday November 29 1895 from consumption. He married Nancy A Gondy in 1849 and moved to Iowa in 1856. He left eight children, five of whom were with him at death: John F Dowden M F Dowden Mrs Alshaugh Mrs Charley Kreager and Mrs D L Fair. Funeral services were held in Baxter.
