Tragic Baxter Crossings Kill Three Young Men
Three Baxter youths Clarence Barbee 19 Otis Barbee 17 and Earl Perry 17 were killed when their covered wagon was struck at a dangerous rail crossing near Humboldt. The accident, blamed on the crossing, sent the bodies to Baxter for a large funeral attended by about 1000 to 1600 people. The community mourns as seniors from Baxter High School laid flowers on the coffins and the crowd filled the grove for the service.
