Destructive hailstorm hits Malaka and Kellogg townships

A severe late night storm across Jasper County caused heavy crop losses in Malaka Kellogg and Richland townships with Adolph Bergman 1 acre and Doane 42 000 in corn losses. The storm also damaged schoolhouse windows and blighted leafed stalks. Rescue and community efforts followed as residents assessed the damage and prepared for the Fortieth Iowa Regiment reunion in Knoxville.
