The state board of equalization completed its labors in Des Moines with a total assessed valuation of 551 million dollars, down nine million from prior figures. Jasper county contains 452616 acres. Kobt Magee visited the Democratic convention in Marshalltown, then Cedar Rapids and Marion, where his son David is foreman at the Gazette and publisher of the Standard paper. Magee formerly resided in Marion before the war and retains property there.
