Testified in Asphalt Case Denies Neutrality Violations
Reading Pennsylvania September 30 testimony in the Venezuelan government suit against the Bermudez Company was given by J Lew Rake before Judge Bertolez. Rake said he received strict neutrality instructions before departing for Venezuela on July 20 1901 and that no neutrality violations occurred during his tenure from August 1901 to August 1962. He said he discharged Dr Manuel Clemente Urbeneja amid alleged plots with Castro’s enemies.
