Marine recruit completes basic combat engineer course

Pfc. Willie G. Gantt of Sania Boest, 112 Market, completed the six week Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer course at Camp Lejeune. He studied engineering support, demolitions, landmine warfare and camouflage. A Governor Thomas Johnson High School graduate, he joined the Marine Corps in January 1978.

Motter completes basic bandsman course in Norfolk

Specialist 4 David P. Motter, son of Mr and Mrs George W Motter of Taneytown, finished the basic bandsman course at the U S Army Element School of Music in Norfolk Va He joined the Army in April 1974 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1607 from Frostburg State College.

YMCA offers Fun with Cooking classes for youths

Frederick County YMCA invites children ages 7 to 12 to a junior cooking program Fun with Cooking teaching nutrition, tasting, basic skills, etiquette and menu planning. Midday swimming offered in Guppies and Gotrmete hove sessions. Eight week sessions begin Sept 30 from 9 30 a m to 12 30 p m with fees 17 for members 22 for non members.
