Remote control boat racing at Greenbrier State Park weekend
The Radio controlled model boat Racing Champion drew participants nationwide for a two day event at Greenbrier State Park lake. Boats 24 to 50 inches long raced on a roughly nine tenth mile course using separate frequencies. Roy Hartley of New Jersey discussed boats as he fuels a Nitro Methane powered craft before a heat.

The Greenbrier State Park venue hosted the NAMBA District 1 Championship Races drawing about 100 enthusiasts and 2410 laps by 2410 laps. Roy Hartley of New Jersey described the boats as carlike engines powered by batteries and methane burning fuel while spectators watched boats reach speeds near 85 mph on the six lap 300 foot oval.
