State Agrees to Pay for Pomerleau Defense
The state will contribute up to 15000 dollars to defray defense costs for Baltimore Police Department leader Donald D. Pomerleau and the department amid charges of illegal civilian spying. The Board of Public Works approved the aid, joining about 30500 dollars already provided by Baltimore City for attorney George L. Russell, who will bill at thirty dollars an hour. The inquiry into police intelligence gathering has drawn Senate scrutiny and a call for a January full-senate report. In Rockville, Md, opposition to a proposed 21 and under curfew drew more than 200 residents to council chambers. The plan would bar under 21s from city streets after 11 p.m. on weeknights and after 1 a.m. on weekends.
