62 398 Aid Granted To Train Nurses
A Manpower Development and Training Act project to train unemployed people to be licensed practical nurses will begin Monday in Frederick. The project, approved by U.S. Sen. Daniel B. Brewster, is operated by the Maryland State Department of Employment Security and the Frederick County Board of Education with instruction at Frederick Memorial Hospital. A registered nurse will head the instruction. Twenty two participants were accepted for the 52 week program to prepare for the state's LPN exam. The aim is to reduce hospital staffing shortages and help the unemployed gain employment. Training is free for qualified participants with benefits available and a minimum tenth grade education required.
