An early morning shower dumped 1.12 inches of rain in Frederick as rivers showed high and muddy. Showers and thunderstorms were expected to continue through today with cooler overnight lows in the low 60s and breezy northeast winds. The total monthly rainfall reached 7.3 inches, more than double the normal September total of 3.42 inches.

A single car crash on Md 26 east of Libertytown knocked out power for over seven hours. Charles Oakes of Baltimore lost control, hit a utility pole, and was charged with exceeding 30 mph. Power restored by 9:30 am after the 2:23 am incident. A separate crash on U S 40 A west of Middletown injured Timothy Craig of West Virginia, who faced a no passing zone charge, with Shirley Lenhart of Middletown as the other driver.

Two Escape Cullen School Boys Captured One Held
One of two boys who fled Victor Cullen School Sabillasville last weekend and allegedly burglarized three homes has been captured. The 14 and 16 year old suspects fled around 6 30 p m Saturday and were sighted in a creek bed along Pa 16 Monday night. One was apprehended and is jailed in Frederick County awaiting a juvenile hearing. the other remains unaccounted for.
